Bow 2012 - New School Building

As part of the Building Schools for the Future programme (BSF), Bow School is to be given a new building on a new site.

The Bow Lock site is less than a mile from:

Paton Close and provides the location for our new building.

The new school will have all of the teaching areas in one main block. This 3 ½ storey building has been designed by VHH Architects to meet the curriculum requirements of the 21st century. Staff at the school have worked closely with architects from the onset to ensure that we get a building that is unique to Bow and which will enable us to provide excellent facilities in a safe environment.

On the top of the main building will be 2 large multi-use games areas totalling the required size of 3 5-a side football pitches.  This, combined with a full sized sports hall, a fitness studio and outdoor areas will mean that much of our PE and Games provision can be on site.

A second building on site will be a 350-seater Assembly Hall that can double as a performance theatre. This space will also be equipped with ablution facilities to provide a midday prayer space.

Finally, we have a separate dining area which will look out over the school grounds and across the River Lea.  In good weather the decking will provide additional eating areas for students.

The architects have made very good use of the site. The buildings frame the site is such a way that the calming view of the river will be central to the feel of the space.  Within the main building two large atria will permit natural light to reach deep within the building.

Additional information will be added to the website as it becomes available. Visit us again soon.
