Reading partners with Rothschild Bank

Bow School’s relationship with Rothschild Bank includes a long-standing Reading Partners programme, in which volunteers from the company provide one-to-one literacy support during lunchtimes. Students are paired up with a volunteer and together they read and discuss books, newspapers and magazines. The programme provides students with a chance to improve their reading and vocabulary skills, as well as to develop a close mentoring relationship with an adult outside of the school.

Rothschild Bank has also invited students from the Reading Partners programme to visit their offices in order to learn about the many different types of jobs that the bank offers and the skills needed for the working world. Students were given top tips on how to be successful in future job applications and interviews.

Bow and Rothschild also collaborate for special events, such as World Book Day. In order to celebrate and encourage reading, a group of volunteers from Rothschild meet with Bow Reading Partners and Reading Champions to read excerpts from their favourite books. Rothschild Bank also recently funded several boxes of new and engaging books guaranteed to capture the interest of students.
