SEN
The SEN department continues to support and identify students in lessons throughout Years 7-11. Where necessary students are offered additional one to one support.
Prior to joining the school, discussions take place with Year 6 teachers to gain as much information as possible to ensure the correct support is in place from September.
The continuous recording of National Curriculum levels and GCSE grades helps us to identify subjects in which some students may be finding difficulty. Where possible, we endeavour to target additional support for a short period of time to help them move on.
In Year 11 we organise trips to colleges for targeted students to help their understanding of course requirements as well as an awareness of college expectations. These visits have helped alleviate the anxiety expressed by many. We also liaise regularly with Connextions and arrange for identified students to meet with the allocated advisor to discuss possible career choices.
