Support and Guidance
Bow Sixth Form students have access to a range of exciting extra-curricular and enrichment opportunities whilst studying. They are also supported with a comprehensive tutorial system to ensure that every student reaches their full potential.
Specialist support from tutors
Bow Sixth Form students benefit from specialist sixth form tutors, who are trained to provide specific post-16 guidance. They are knowledgeable about university progression, career options and effective working habits to achieve the best results. Classes are small and tutors are able to get to know all the strengths of their tutees. Tutors monitor the performance of their tutees to ensure that each and every student is reaching the targets they are capable of. Where necessary, any progress monitoring is relayed to parents, so that they are fully involved in the development of their child's future
A range of enriching extra-curricular activities in our brand new facilities
The school has exciting sports facilities for the sixth form to use such as specialist dance, drama and performance spaces for use during enrichment time, which is built into the sixth form timetable, as well as a state of the art gym facility. Students have also benefitted from 'drop-days' where they take part in teamwork activities to build skills such as communication and presentation. We also have new kitchen facilities allowing students to bake and cook during enrichment time. To find out more about our enrichment offer please click here.
Strong partnerships with employers
Bow School works closely with employers, such as Rothschild & Co and Bank of America Merrill Lynch, to support the future employability of our students. This is no exception in the sixth form, where there are internship and work shadowing opportunities for our students, events run to develop confidence, teamwork and leadership skills and support with CVs and covering letters.
Our strong business links mean we are also able to provide unique mentoring opportunities for our sixth formers, with all students offered the opportunity to be part of a one-to-one mentoring programme. Mentors support with university applications, careers advice, study strategies or simply lend an ear and listen to the challenges students might face.
University programmes and links
We are fortunate enough to live in a city with a large provision of outstanding higher education. More importantly, Bow School has links in place to work closely with these institutions, to support our students to university and beyond. The school is also linked to other institutions across the UK, including colleges at both Oxford and Cambridge Universities. We provide visits to universities, summer school placements, support with applications to university and thorough guidance about the best places available.
Be a part of the wider school community
Being a sixth former at Bow puts you in an exciting position, both to be a part of the school and to lead it. Sixth formers have a very separate identity but support students lower down the school, developing leadership and communication skills. The Sixth Form has for example, worked in collaboration with Phoenix School in enrichment activities and drop down days.
