Starting secondary school
At Bow School of Maths and Computing, we know how difficult, and daunting it can be to make the transition from primary to secondary school and we do everything we can to make this process as simple and easy as possible for you and your son.
We have effective and strengthening relationships and links with our key partner primary schools with whom we organise various events and visits throughout the school year so that the pupils can get to know Bow School, and the students, as well as some of the enrichment activities we offer, before they come.
Open Events - Autumn Term
Starting in the Autumn Term we hold a series of Open Mornings where you can come and visit the school while teaching and learning is taking place, get to know you way around and ask any questions to staff and students about life at the school. We also hold an Open Evening, to offer another chance to visit the school and find out everything you need to know before making your choice of secondary school. You are always welcome to arrange a personal visit to the school if the dates and times of the Open Events do not suit you.
Induction Days - Summer Term
In the summer term we then offer an Induction day where the students get to meet their tutor groups and experience life at Bow School.
All of these activities enable the boys to feel more secure about starting secondary school in September, as we know it can be a scary process coming to a 'big' school. We do everything we can to ensure that the boys feel happy, safe and settled as soon as they can.
