Take AIM At The Top
“Bow School Sixth Form really does aim for everyone to be the best they can be. It’s not easy to stand out these days but I was provided with the support and opportunities to give me the edge in the real world.” Sixth Form Graduate
We know that students need an environment in which they can succeed academically, but there is so much competition for undergraduate places, apprenticeships and jobs now that it is no longer enough to just have good grades. Employers and universities see this as a minimum requirement.
This is why we have devised our own unique pledge to students: we will support you to Take AIM At The Top. But what does this mean?
A – Accelerate Learning
I – Initiate Opportunities
M – Maximise Potential
Being in the Sixth Form is very different to school. Students need to adapt to a new learning environment, where they are expected to be more mature, learn independently and take ownership of their education.
We give everyone the tools they need to make sure their learning doesn’t waver and we continuously set new challenges so nobody stagnates. With just two years left, there is no time to waste and so we ensure Sixth Formers are constantly ahead of where they should be.
As we’re a small Sixth Form we can take the time to understand everyone individually; we know their likes and dislikes, what worries them and what they want to do once they leave us. This enables us to establish suitable pathways.
Whether this is our Programme of Enrichment, Discovery and Development Initiatives or more bespoke activities with our partners, we set up events, activities and relationships that transform students’ lives and start them on a journey to success.
We won’t let anything get in the way of students’ progress. Our job is to anticipate and remove any roadblocks along the way. The Sixth Form is an adult learning environment, but we retain the dedicated pastoral care witnessed in the lower school so that everyone has a support network when they need it.
“Take Aim At The Top is what drives us all to make sure that students are always challenged, supported, encouraged and inspired to take every opportunity in front of them. This is a transformative time in their lives and our role is to help them make the most of it.”
