Year 7
Our Year 7s have had a great year so far and I was immediately impressed with the start they made and their attitude and approach to learning; it was clear from the beginning they would be an outstanding year group. The process of transferring from primary to secondary school can be both exciting and challenging and here at Bow we work hard to break down the worries that parents and students might have. Our Year 7 tudents bought a new energy to the school and adjusted very quickly to the rules and routines of secondary school life.
We have seen consistent high standards of work and students have received merits for excellence in lessons and outstanding effort with homework. The tutor group competition has also been popular and has included literacy based activities as well as sporting competitions.
Each week in Year 7, students have a new focus to support their learning. This is proven to encourage them to be independent learners and to take more responsibility for their own learning. It has covered all the most important areas of school life including learning to learn, attendance and student voice. Tutor time activities have also reflected these themes and have been designed to make students more successful throughout their school life and indeed, later in life as well.
