Music
Facilities and Resources: a suite of music rooms including recording facilities.
Our aim is to give all pupils a variety of musical experiences drawing on different styles and focusing on practical work.
Activities fall into two main areas; those in lessons and those in the various clubs and rehearsal sessions that we run before school, during lunchtimes and after school. In addition pupils receive individual lessons in Drum Kit, Guitar and Keyboards. There are regular opportunities for students to perform both within school and outside of school. Recent performances have included work such as composing ensemble pieces for the Spitalfields Festival, ‘Bow Idol’ Singing competition, and performing at the Jack Petchey Awards Ceremony.
We have strong links with LPO, Spitalfields Festival, Creative Partnerships and The Guildhall School Of Music And Drama all of whom visit the school on regular occasions to deliver workshops to our students and to allow them to experience professional music making within their own school environment.
We regularly take students out on trips to hear professional musicians play in a concert setting these have included visits to places such as: The Royal Festival Hall, The Barbican, Wilton’s Music Hall, The Royal College Of Music etc.
