Reading Champions Complete Library 101 Training!
June 2009
This term Bow Year 7 Reading Champions successfully completed the first part of their Library Training with Mrs Clark our school librarian. During the session, pupils learnt about the work to be done to keep our library working and in good order. They started with how books are shelved and labelled and basic display. In future sessions they will learn about selection, cataloguing, more display and lending.
With their new library skills mastered the boys set to work shelving returned books, getting them in order and putting them on display. They also helped create displays for the 2009 Tower Hamlets Book Award Longlist and the ‘Crunch – books with bite’ teenage book list. They will be going on to choose authors for next year’s school calendar and research which new books should be bought for our library and recommended to fellow pupils!
Following on from the 2008 Tower Hamlets Book Award when Bow voted Derek Landry’s ‘Skullduggery Pleasant’ as their favourite book they highly recommended the author’s follow-up books – ‘Playing with Fire’ and ‘The Faceless One’!
