Student Focus

Out of Hours Learning

The purpose of Out of Hours Learning is to support the raising of students’ achievement by motivating them to become more effective learners through activities that extend and enrich the curriculum. Our various clubs and activities include:

Homework Club

Each Year Group has a dedicated homework day when students are expected to stay on site until 4.30pm, working on tasks set for that week.

Homework days
Year 7 Monday
Year 8 Tuesday
Year 9 Wednesday
Year 10 Thursday
Year 11 Friday

Cookery Club

The Cookery Club runs weekly after school for Year 7 students. Our students are taught basic health and safety, the values of healthy eating, and how to cook simple but tasty recipes. Students are given a recipe book of dishes.

Anti-bullying Club

This club meets weekly to support all students to deal with peer pressure, manage emotional triggers, staying safe from verbal attack, saying no in ways that are effective, setting boundaries to stop unwanted attention. Students at the club work cooperatively. There is a Befriending scheme, peer mediation and assertiveness training.
