2011 Graduation Evening and Awards Ceremony

On Tuesday 28^th June, the Class of 2011 attended their graduation evening, thanking their teachers and saying their final farewells. While they arrived to the hall decorated and set up for an awards ceremony, the students dined on their chosen cuisine and watched a presentation which showed their picture from year 7 and 11 and a parting comment from the staff. The students found the change in their appearance hilarious and it set up a festive atmosphere.

 With everyone in a celebratory mood, Ms Dobson officially opened the awards ceremony.  Ms McMahon and Ms Morris then went on to present the Year 11s with awards for a variety of achievements ranging from ‘Academic Excellence’ to ‘Most likely to be the next apprentice’.  Student performances followed with Danny Porter performing his winning song from Bow Idol 2010, Tosin Folarin performing one of his own songs and Afzal Hussain performing a rap. In addition, there was students’ work on display.

 The evening ended with a final farewell speech given by Ms McMahon and Ms Morris and our Head Boys - Enam Ahmod and Imran Ali. They spoke passionately about how this day was a time of reflection as well as celebration. They remembered how they’d overcome obstacles and enjoyed the fantastic opportunities that Bow had offered them. Most importantly, they gave their year group advice about being themselves, believing in themselves and aiming high – both personally and professionally. They also thanked all the teachers, parents and friends who had helped them be such a successful year group. With streamers being popped instead of mortarboards flying high, the boys collected the NRA folders and will only be returning to collect the results in August. Fingers crossed!

 The class of 2011 enjoyed a well-deserved opportunity to celebrate the year group’s achievements. It was a fantastic evening, what some staff described as the ‘best ever’. It was collaboratively organised by Ms Morris and the students. They will be greatly missed.
