KS5 Success Stories
Behind every grade, destination offer and celebration, is an individual story of hard work, determination and ambition. We caught up with some of our Sixth Form students to find out about their achievements, and plans for the future.
Zakariah Sheikh
Sheringham Primary School and Bow School and Sixth Form
Zakariah is leaving Bow Sixth Form with an impressive portfolio of AAC in Art, Economics and Physics, and is delighted to have been offered his first-choice university, Kingston, to read Architecture. Praising the Bow Sixth Form for their commitment beyond academic: offering a broad enrichment programme and insightful careers education, he advises all younger students at Bow to seek out every opportunity.
“Our Sixth Form has a vision to make every student World and Career Ready and looking at all my peers celebrating today, and my own personal pride, it is clear that has been achieved. The teachers are so helpful, constantly monitoring our work and progress to ensure we are on track, encouraging independence and offering opportunities to assume positions of leadership”.
Raheem Miah
Clara Grant Primary School and Bow School and Sixth Form
After achieving A*AB in Economics, History and Computer Science, the world is Raheem’s oyster – although he has his sights firmly set on a career in Software Engineering, and the first stop is City of London to read Computer Science.
“I am so proud of what I have achieved today, but without the sixth form team I wouldn’t be celebrating like I am today. All of the teaching and support staff are incredibly approachable, striking a balance between challenging us to succeed and nurturing our personal development through dedicated PD days. I would recommend the Bow Sixth Form to all students who are willing to put in the hard work – the teachers will return your efforts and you will benefit from a positive learning environment which is professional and consistent, with plenty of exciting opportunities, such as work experience!”
Muhammed Yamin
Sir William Burrough and Bow School and Sixth Form
Muhammed has encapsulated the Bow School vision of becoming World and Career Ready, as he proudly celebrates outstanding results of A*A*A*A in Computer Science, Maths, Physics and Economics, respectively. With these incredible results under his belt, he looks forward to his next challenge: reading Economics and Management at the University of Oxford.
“I was so pleased with what I achieved in my GCSEs at Bow, that I decided to stay on for the Sixth Form and repeat my success – alongside the subject choice offering me exactly what I wanted to study! When I was asked if I thought the sixth form achieved its vision, the answer was of course. The teachers are passionate about their subject delivery, the resources including iPads, endless support and study sessions, the careers advisor and variety of trips to universities and organisations have really opened my eyes and helped me to get to where I am today”.
Muhammed Saleh
Blue Fate Field Juniors and Bow School and Sixth Form
Muhammed has ambitious plans to study Electrical Engineering and Electronics at Queen Mary University, before embarking on a Masters’ degree, following the achievement of A*AA in Maths, Computer Science and Physics. Muhammed attributes his success to the sixth form’s weekly interventions, wide range of resources, workshops and work experience – the quadruple W!
“The sixth form team at Bow Sixth Form always go the extra mile to help you reach your goals, as well as teaching us the importance of aspiring for more than you thought was possible. What makes the sixth form unique is flexibility and support – every need is catered for and if you would like to gain experience and exposure to something, they go above and beyond to make it possible”.
Samin Yasir Khan
Marner Primary School and Bow School and Sixth Form
Student Ambassador Samin is looking forward to his next chapter at Russell Group university Warwick, to study Cyber Security.
“I feel prepared for my next steps as a result of the lessons the sixth form has taught me. Working as a Student Ambassador has developed my leadership and confidence, lesson styles have developed critical thinking skills and encouraged independence. I am so grateful for all of the support received, from help selecting my subjects to personal statement and UCAS guidance, and today is the result of two years of hard work!”
Ali Ahsan
Malmesbury Primary School and Bow School and Sixth Form
Having achieved exceptional results of A*A*A in Maths, Further Maths and Physics, Ali has the world at his fingertips – he just needs to decide on which pathway he would like to take. With the option of reading Natural Sciences at Cambridge University or Physics at UCL, his greatest ambition is to win a Nobel Prize for his contributions to research.
“The sixth form team at Bow really do care about you achieving your goals, in the healthiest and most positive way. Our wellbeing is at the forefront of all that they do, with an emphasis on extra-curricular activities and enrichment that extend our learning outside of the classroom. My teachers offered me workshops linked to engineering and physics, alongside opportunities for mentoring, and dedicated spaces for independent study which help to consolidate learning. It really is a fully rounded experience”.
Sameur Rahman
Manorfield Primary School and Bow School and Sixth Form
After undertaking work experience arranged by Bow Sixth Form at Canary Wharf Group, Sameur was offered an incredible Apprenticeship in Sustainability with the organisation. Following his achievement of D*D*D* in Business, Sameur proudly accepts this offer.
“The sixth form is a fantastic place to study, learn, prepare for the future, gain memorable experiences and form life-long friendships. Teachers keep us on our toes and treat us like adults, enlightening us to what life will be like after sixth form. We are given the freedom to grow and be independent, but the disciplined environment ensures we reach our goals. My advice for younger students is to take up every opportunity, focus on the careers guidance you are given and enjoy the extra-curricular experiences offered – everything is designed to create a generation of World and Career Ready adults”.Lawany Mendonca

University of Greenwich will soon be welcoming Lawany, after she achieved D*DD in Applied Science at Bow Sixth Form and will be reading Psychology come September.
“The additional support offered at the sixth form is truly incomparable. The teachers always go above and beyond, are incredibly approachable, and the endless opportunities to prepare us for the future are second to none. I have benefitted from meetings with a career’s advisor, guest speaker events and was offered the opportunity to be a Sports Leader, which helped me to develop skills including leadership, teamwork, independence, confidence and network with different people. I would recommend the sixth form to everyone, and my advice would be to try your hardest – the sixth form will match your efforts”.

Results day was a great success for Muad, who not only celebrated D*DD in Applied Science, but upon opening his envelope, gained a place at his first-choice university – Queen Mary’s, to read Engineering.
“My teachers at Bow helped me to map out my career aspiration, of becoming an Aerospace Engineer, and a personalised pathway that would help me to achieve this. From supporting me to achieve the results I needed for university to researching and providing additional opportunities that would help me to stand out from the crowd, the staff really have gone above and beyond. They are truly committed to every single student at the sixth form, and that is what sets them apart”.

Arnhem Wharf Primary School and Bow School and Sixth Form
With D*D*D in Business Studies under her belt and an offer to read Human Resources at Greenwich University, Fatima is ready to take her next steps with confidence. Praising the sixth form its endless support and citing the staff as ‘beyond helpful’, she looks forward to returning to Bow School and Sixth Form as part of its successful alumni network, to give back to the community that helped her achieve what she is celebrating today.
“The first highlight of my Bow experience is today – celebrating and revelling in the results of two years of hard work, commitment and dedication. The second highlight are the personal development days – days filled with exciting opportunities and new experiences that focus on developing all aspects of our lives. They were always so much fun and I am so grateful to my teachers for offering these and their endless support”.

Having attained an impressive AAB in Computer Science, Maths and Economics, Adnan looks forward to beginning the first steps towards his career aspirations of Computer Engineering, accepting a place to study at Queen Mary University in September.
“I am so proud of what I have achieved today and am so grateful to my teachers for their endless guidance, support and encouragement. They empowered me to follow my dreams and provided me with the teaching – not only in the classroom but in skills and opportunities - to help me achieve this and stand out from the crowd”.
Omar Ahmed
Clara Grant Primary School and Bow School and Sixth Form
With D*D*D* under his belt, Omar is well placed to achieve his dreams and embark on his next adventure: undertaking a 4-year apprenticeship in Mechanical Engineering. Praising the sixth form staff for their support with coursework, resources and the excellent standards of teaching, he hopes to have a career in engineering, and we have every faith he will continuously succeed, as he did during his time with us in school and sixth form.
“There have been many highlights of my Bow Sixth Form experience, but the one that stands out is witnessing my own progression and exceeding my own expectations, and the goals I set myself. Over the last two years, my teachers have consistently set targets, tracked my work and renewed my targets, teaching me the importance of hard work and proving to me that I can achieve anything I set my mind to”.
Batoul El-Fouani

Celebrating an impressive AAB in Art, Economics and Psychology, Batoul is proud to embark on a Foundation Course in Art at UAL, before an Apprenticeship in Interior Design, her lifelong dream.
“There is a genuine sense of care at the Bow Sixth Form. Teachers listen to your aspirations, understand learning styles and know and value every student as an individual. Across the Sixth Form, purpose-built spaces, small classes and private study areas allow for learning to be personalised to us – I have been supported and motivated by teachers, progressed so much over the last two years and am so proud to be following my dream”.
Raian Haque

Raian has ambitious plans for the future. Having achieved a superb portfolio of results of D*DD in Business, he is delighted to start at the University of Reading in September, to study Real Estate and Planning.
“I am so proud of myself and all that I have achieved in the last two years. The teachers are so supportive and passionate about their own subjects, which results in exciting and engaging course content. Trips help us to apply our learning in real-life contexts and experience higher education and the world of work, and the pastoral team have taught us the value of prioritising our wellbeing, and how to effectively balance our workloads. I feel ready for university and life beyond it!”
Raihan Chowdhury

With his sights set firmly on Reading University, Raihan celebrates not only the impressive achievement of D*DD in Business, but the offer from his first-choice university, to study Real Estate Management.
“Bow Sixth Form is incredible. The endless opportunities are second to none, and I can’t believe how lucky I have been over the last two years to gain insights and exposure to a wide range of sectors, universities, organisations and experiences. I really have benefitted from many once in a lifetime opportunities. From working with the National Talent Academy to the Construction Youth Trust, achieving the Industrial Cadets Gold Award, work experience with Overbury, my own mentor from Savills and an internship with a real estate company, it is all been amazing.
As a result of all of these enrichment and careers activities, I have stepped outside my comfort zone, learnt life enhancing skills, developed my confidence and so much more. I am incredibly grateful to the teachers and departments for providing so many different opportunities to support my learning, both in and beyond the classroom”.
