DAN FREEDMAN SCORES AGAIN AT BOW!
Author and football journalist DAN FREEDMAN made one of his ever popular visits to us here at Bow!
Once again he was greeted by Year 7 in a manner usually reserved for whole teams!
Dan talked about how he became a journalist and all the football stars he has interviewed and then how he came to write stories following the career of fictional footballer Jamie Johnson.
He showed us some of his interviews and related some of the funnier and most memorable moments from his career as a journalist.
Dan described how he decided to write the Jamie Johnson stories after he failed to find suitable books to buy as a gift for a young boy he knew. There are now 5 exciting books in the series and there is at least one more to come.
He also emphasised how you could learn from your mistakes as well as your successes and how important it was to keep trying to achieve your goals, in life, as much as on the football field!
Prizes of signed copies of all of Dan’s books were presented to 5 lucky students who won the prize draw having correctly answered the quiz questions set before the visit.
Dan then answered questions from Year 7 and then gave out signed copies of his latest book WORLD CLASS to the 5 best questioners plus a signed mini football for the very best question from Louis Clarke!
Although Dan has left the game is not quite over as we still have to reschedule a visit from football coach OLI KARGER which is a reward for the 30 students who made the most progress in ACCELERATED READER over last half term!
