A night with M.J. at ELAM
On Monday 25th June the Music Department took around 50 pupils to ELAM for an amazing show celebrating the life and music of Michael Jackson. We took the two Year 10 BTEC Music classes plus selected pupils from Phoenix. The show featured around 120 performers set up in bands, with solo singers and dance troupes. Each band performed an iconic Michael Jackson track, in perfect time to the original music video, which was displayed on a giant projector screen behind. The performances were first rate, with some stunning singing and instrumental playing. Hits included Thriller, Bad, Leave Me Alone, Blame it on the Boogie and many more.
Each performance started with a video made especially for the event, featuring the performers describing what the songs meant to them as artists, and also facts and trivia about each of the ground breaking songs.
We are very grateful to ELAM for offering this private, matinee performance to us completely free for the pupils! The pupils were really inspired by hearing the amazing music brought to life live on stage and we hope the public shows are a great success for the ELAM students.
