Bow Young Promoters at The BBC Proms
On Saturday 27th July our NYO Young Promoters were invited to the amazing BBC Proms at the Royal Albert Hall for the farewell to our pioneering work with the National Youth Orchestra. We have worked with them for three years now, and it was sad to say goodbye to the young musicians and staff who have brought us so much inspiration over this time.
The pupils were treated to a private performance in the Royal Albert Hall overlooking the statue of Prince Albert in Hyde Park.
We then got a backstage tour of all the Royal rooms, organ loft and Jazz Café featuring a famous red piano donated by Sir Elton John.
Next the pupils were treated to free Pizza Express where we took over the entire restaurant!
At the end of the day there was a spectacular concert by the Orchestra, where we were lucky enough to get front row £50 seats for only £5!
Well done to all the young Promoters this year who have benefited from this unique cultural experience.
I hope visiting these historic musical locations will inspire them to revisit, and that they have learnt more about the fascinating world of orchestral music-making and the art of public speaking and events management.
