Bow launches into a Reading Year!
A Reading Year at Bow has launched with a visit, for the whole of Year 7, from top author ALI SPARKES who presented
MUSIC, MONSTERS & MAKING THINGS UP
Ali told us how music influences her and is a strong theme throughout a number of her stories.
It features in ‘Frozen In Time’, ‘Dark Summer’ and – very definitely in sci-fi adventure ‘Destination Earth’. Not least because legendary 80s funk pop band Level 42 are very much part of the story, helping to save Earth from aliens!
When Ali read us some extracts from the book we found out that this is not as mad as it sounds!
After her talk Ali answered some questions from students and gave out signed postcards of her latest book ‘Car-Jacked’ for everyone.
In addition 10 very lucky students, selected by their form tutors and Mr Stein, each received a copy of ‘Destination Earth’ which Ali signed for them.
All of Ali Sparkes’s books are also in stock in our library and there was quite a queue for them the next day!
Bow’s Year of Reading will continue with reading challenges and competitions, reader recommendation displays, more author visits and lots and lots of books!
Happy New Reading Year!
