Bow part of exciting new Sixth Form partnership, Sixth Form East
As progress on our new build continues and the opening of our new school near Bow Lock draws ever closer (September 2014), we are preparing for the launch of our post-16 provision as part of the Sixth Form East (SFE) collaboration. SFE is an exciting collaboration of four local secondary schools including Bow, Stepney Green, St Paul’s Way Trust and Langdon Park. It will offer our students a diverse range of academic and vocational post-16 courses alongside extensive extracurricular activities enabling students to take on roles of responsibility and leadership in the wider community. SFE students will also benefit from unique opportunities through our partnerships with businesses, colleges and universities, as well as the additional resources of the partner schools in the SFE collaboration.
As part of the Mayor’s ‘Aim Higher’ initiative, our Sixth Form students will receive university and careers advice as well as mentoring from business professionals and academics. In addition, students will be motivated by conference sessions and visits to universities where they will experience a taste of life in higher education. We look forward to seeing SFE at Bow in action from September 2014, supporting our students to reach and exceed their potential and providing them with a platform for future academic success.
We are absolutely committed to the on-going provision of excellent education opportunities for our young people. Sixth Form East will offer exciting new post-16 courses that will give our young people the tools they need to succeed in their chosen careers. Cllr Oliur Rahman, Cabinet Member for Children, Schools and Families.
