Calais-France Trip 5th December 2014

On Friday 5th December 2014 a group of 43 students from years 7- 8 and 5 members of staff visited Calais-France.

It was a wonderful opportunity and the students came away with some fantastic memories that they will always treasure.

We took an early morning ferry from Dover to Calais, which for some was an experience in itself! The visit of the town started at the majestic town hall, pupils explored the town, studied signs, menus and learnt about local produce, with many trying out their French in local shops. We then took the coach to Cité Europe where the students were given the opportunity to use their French when buying souvenirs for themselves, friends and families.

Overall, it was a very successful trip and we returned with lots of smiles on faces. This first-hand experience of French culture and society has allowed the subject to materialise and has certainly increased the students' motivation to do well in French. Merci Calais!
