Dr Sarah Wood ‘Speaker For Schools’ Assembly
On Thursday 17th January, BowExtra! and the Computing Department hosted a ‘Speakers for Schools’ talk with Dr Sarah Wood. The assembly was attended by Year 10 GCSE Computing students and 30 Year 9 and 10 girls. Dr Sarah Wood is co-founder and COO of marketing technology company Unruly, where she ensures the company delivers innovative and global social video campaigns. Sarah was named one of 15 Women to Watch in Tech by Inc., one of 10 London-based Entrepreneurs to watch by Forbes and one of CNBC’s UK tech industry’s top women entrepreneurs.
The talk was refreshing, valuable and inspirational. Sarah put forward a message of perseverance and hard work and engaged our budding future leaders through interactive and progressive discussions. She made a real connection with our students by offering insight and sharing her personal story. Sarah exemplifies female leadership by taking risks and not being afraid to rise to each challenge even when faced with adversity.
Students and staff alike are grateful to Sarah for sharing her passion and for reaching out to inspire the next generation of tech leaders.
