Bright Futures Ahead as Bow School Celebrates Strong GCSE Success and Growth in Top Grades

Students and staff at Bow School are celebrating another year of improved GCSE results, with significant increases in higher grades and some of the best outcomes achieved by the school in recent years. This showcases not only academic excellence, but the strength of a community that believes in every young person’s potential.

This year’s Year 11 cohort achieved the highest proportion of top grades awarded over the last three years, with 17% of all grades awarded at Grades 7–9 and 31% awarded at Grades 6–9. The number of Grade 9s awarded tripled compared to the previous year, with the number of Grade 7s and above also rising. Students also recorded improved outcomes in a number of key measures, including Grade 5+ in English and Mathematics.

• Elisa achieved a phenomenal set of results including 9999999998. She will continue her Maths, Further Maths, Chemistry and English Literature at A Level, with ambitions to pursue Chemistry at university and build a future in the field.
• Oluwatufunmi achieve an outstanding set of GCSE results including 998887777 and a Double Distinction. With aspirations to become a research scientist, he is excited to begin the next stage of his education, studying French, Chemistry and Geography at sixth form.
• Amy secured a suite of 9s and 8s (999988888) as well as a Distinction*. With plans to study Economics, Maths, English and Music at sixth form, Amy has her sights set on a future career in finance.
• A remarkable transformation and a commitment to improvement have earned Ayyaz an exceptional set of GCSE results including 999988877. He will continue his studies at Bow Sixth Form where he plans to study BTEC Business before progressing to university or a degree apprenticeship, with ambitions of building a career in finance or business.

There were excellent performances across a range of subjects. In Science, around half of students studying Biology, Chemistry and Physics separately secured Grades 7–9, while almost all achieved Grade 5+. Modern Foreign Languages also continued to deliver impressive outcomes, with students achieving notable success in both French and Spanish. Strong results were also achieved in Mathematics, Computer Science, History, Design Technology, Art and PE, contributing to the school’s continued growth in higher grades across the curriculum.

These successes follow closely on the heels of the school’s exceptional A Level results last week, which have opened doors to prestigious universities, including Oxford, King’s College London and the University of Sheffield, as well as exciting apprenticeship programmes and career opportunities.

It is particularly pleasing to see more students achieving the highest grades, with growing numbers leaving us with strong qualifications and a broad range of opportunities available to them as they move on to the next stage of their education. Behind every grade is a young person with their own story, ambitions and challenges. These results are a testament to their determination and to the dedication of our staff, families and wider school community.

Whilst we are proud of these outcomes, we remain ambitious. Our aim is not only to prepare students for examinations, but to equip them with the knowledge, skills and values needed to thrive in the future and make a positive contribution to society.
