Holocaust Memorial Day/ House Assemblies

Preparation for this year’s Holocaust Memorial Day (HMD) started way back in October when the prefects had the opportunity to work with Susanna Hunter-Darch from HMD to plan HMD 2017 @ Bow School. Susanna was so impressed with the prefects at Bow that she put the school forward to receive a visit from a trustee to talk with the prefects to gain an understanding of their contribution to HMD @ Bow.

Anita Peleg - our trustee visitor - was truly inspiring as she spoke to the upper school highlighting the importance of #thebowway values. She was equally impressed with the prefect team during their Q&A session after the main ceremony.

The day included two special services of remembrance which were held simultaneously for the whole school in the LRC atrium and Sports Hall.

It also included a series of House Assemblies. These provided another opportunity for the school to reflect on this issue. The four individual assemblies were led by the school prefects who used the work they had done with Susanna Hunter-Darch to help them create a presentation for each house group.

In addition the assemblies provided each house with the opportunity to establish their own student led committees. Moving forward, the 8 students that were chosen for each house will be responsible for developing future assemblies and house activities to include fundraising events to support the work of organisations such as the Holocaust Memorial Day Trust.

Thank you to everyone involved for a truly memorable HMD 2017.
