House Day Activities

Before the end of term, Year 10 took part in the third and final House Day of the academic year. There were a range of experiences and activities on offer which really pushed some students out of their comfort zone, and gave Year 10 the opportunity to showcase their incredible adaptability.

Firstly, Year 10 received a Speakers for Schools Talk from Architecture specialists HLM Architects. Students learned about the work that HLM Architects do, as well as different pathways into becoming an architect.

Whilst some form groups then had to leave school to travel to their off site activities, those form groups still on site were then treated to a motivational talk from a successful actor – and former Bow student - Tyler Fayose. Tyler is known for being in shows such as BBC Studios' show 'Phoenix Rise' (2023), Universal TV's drama 'Departure' (2019), ITVX's Riches (2022), and Mission Impossible: Rogue Nation (2015). He spoke at length about his youth, time at school, and challenges he has faced, and had some insightful advice for our students, who asked some thoughtful questions during the Q&A session at the end. Some were lucky enough to bag a photograph with Tyler before the end of the session!

Most form groups then travelled to Leaside Trust in Clapton for the rest of the day’s activities, where students had the option to canoe, paddle board or kayak for the afternoon. Whilst some students were initially reluctant to get on the water, it was great to see groups of friends encouraging each other to have a go, and by the end of the session, there were plenty of happy faces!

Those not able to travel to Leaside spent the afternoon rope climbing at Shadwell Basin Activity Centre. Students displayed incredible positivity and teamwork throughout the day, and were a credit to the school.

Overall, a very successful day for Year 10 at Bow School! Huge thanks to all the staff.
