Between March - June, a number of Bow students were nominated for, and won, the Jack Petchey Award.

Students have used their £300 grant towards: 

- Nintendo Game Console for the Gaming Club

- Rap Therapy workshop

- Badminton rackets and nets for the Badminton Club

- Sixth Form team-building trip

- Debate Mate Showcase

- Revision guides

 The winners attended the Tower Hamlets Jack Petchey Award evening, which took place at West India Quay Cinema on Monday, 1st July. At the event, award winners received a special medallion in recognition of their achievements this year.

2024 winners:

Joey Huynh – Year 7

Since starting Bow in September, Joey has consistently displayed all of the school's five values. He is generous and regularly brings in gifts, greeting cards, or sweets to share with his form. He engages in all curriculum and personal development opportunities with enthusiasm. Joey is respected by his peers for his academic ability and kindness in equal measure. Finally, he is unafraid to be himself and motivates those around him to feel more confident, too.

Amreen Islam – Year 8

Amreen is a kind and respectful student who has grown significantly in confidence this year. Her dedication to her studies is truly inspiring. As her form tutor, I've had the joy of watching her develop and work hard. Amreen's positive attitude and determination make her a great role model for her classmates. I am proud to nominate Amreen for the Jack Petchey Achievement Award, celebrating her hard work and wonderful character.

Francisco Garcia – Year 9

Francisco exemplifies hard work, modesty, confidence, diligence, and excellence. He tackles challenges with quiet determination and humility, always striving for the best without seeking recognition. His outstanding grades in Geography reflect his focus and dedication. Francisco is kind and polite in all interactions, treating peers, teachers, and staff with respect, creating a supportive school environment. His ability to stay confident while remaining modest is admirable. Francisco will be a pleasure for teachers in his chosen GCSEs, and I am excited for his future achievements!

Sahiba Firuj  - Year 11

I’ve nominated Sahiba for her exceptional leadership as a Senior Prefect and outstanding academic achievements this year. She has demonstrated exemplary determination and a strong work ethic, inspiring peers with her inclusive leadership style. Sahiba is committed to doing her best, consistently showing a mature attitude and using her initiative. Her dedication and positive influence make her a deserving candidate for the Jack Petchey achievement award.

Sabbir Ahmed – Year 11

Sabbir exemplifies our school values through his exemplary conduct and respect for both peers and staff. His enthusiastic participation in school events and enrichment opportunities showcases his commitment to the school community. Sabbir's superb leadership skills shine as a valuable member of the prefect team, readily taking on and excelling in various roles. His willingness to embrace leadership positions and his positive influence on others are commendable. I am confident that Sabbir will achieve great things after leaving us this summer. He is truly deserving of this award.

Ni'mat Ali – Year 11

Ni’Mat has been an inspiration in our school community. Her exceptional progress since starting GCSEs, turning a grade 5 in Year 9 into a grade 9 in Year 11, showcases her dedication. Ni'mat's ability to solve mathematical problems and collaborate with peers is commendable. She tackles new concepts with enthusiasm and determination, inspiring both teachers and classmates. Beyond her individual achievements, Ni'mat's teamwork and strong communication skills make her a valuable asset in group settings. Her passion for STEM subjects further reflects her aspirations and motivates peers to pursue their interests in these vital areas.

Lisa Hossain – Year 12

I have nominated Lisa for the Jack Petchey Achievement Award for her outstanding qualities of determination, adaptability, curiosity, respect, and responsibility. Lisa is a fantastic student who consistently works hard to complete her work to an excellent standard. She actively takes on feedback and makes necessary improvements, demonstrating her commitment to excellence. Her respectful and responsible nature makes her a role model for her peers. Well done, Lisa!

Rayhana Begum – Year 13

I am pleased to nominate Rahyana for the Jack Petchey Award. Her determination and curiosity are evident in her excellent work. She is a fantastic student who works hard in completing work to an excellent standard, taking on feedback and making changes and is all round respectful and responsible. Well done!
