Jack Petchey Achievement Award May
Winners: Elikia Motobaluti (Y7), Sameer Ahmed (Y11) and Rio Puffett (Y12)
Congratulations to this month’s Jack Petchey Award winners: Elikia, Sameer and Rio. Each winner received a framed certificate, a Young Achiever pin badge and £250 to be spent on a school or community project of their choice.
Nomination Statements:
“Elikia came into school a very shy and unsure student and has grown considerably over the last few months. Elikia had faced difficulty finding his way to classes and was too shy to ask for help. Since working closely with him he is now developing the skills to approach others and to arrive at the correct classes on time. Elikia has also grown in his English lessons with me and is forever trying to broaden his social skills with his peers as well as in class discussions. His work itself has come on considerably and he always thrives to do his best”
(Ms Tilyard, Senior Teaching Assistant)
“Sameer has shown excellent commitment and perseverance in his attitude to his learning in History as the exams approach. He attends TIG regularly, asks questions about his progress and reflects on his learning by focusing on his DIRT tasks in order to improve his grades. As a result, he achieved one grade above target in his recent mocks. Keep up the hard work Sameer!”
(Ms Eldrid, Teacher of Humanities)
“Rio has successfully risen to the challenge of A Level History. He comes to each lesson with energy, questions, enthusiasm and is a willing participant in all discussions. His written work is of a consistently high standard and he is always fully focused on how to improve his work further”
