National recognition for Bow School

Bow School has gained national recognition for being one of the top 20% of schools in the country for adding value to their students’ achievements at GCSE; this is determined by the progress made by students between their Key Stage 2 results at primary school and their GCSE results at age 16.

Our GCSE results continue to rise year on year and in 2012 we were delighted to celebrate the achievement of our Year 11 students who achieved 91% 5+ A*- C at GCSE, with 51% achieving 5+ A*-C grades including English and Maths.

Sue Williamson, chief Executive of SSAT commented: “Bow School should be congratulated for their stunning performance in adding value to their students’ achievements.Bow School is one of the best schools in the country in outperforming expectations for their pupils and improving their future prospects. There is plenty that other schools could learn from Bow School’s success. These results are a testament to the commitment and hard work of the students, teachers and leadership team at Bow School and a vindication of their belief in high expectations, good teaching and ambition for every young person. The value-added measures show how schools make a difference and raise achievement above expectations.”

It is an exciting time to be a part of the Bow School journey as we continue to go from strength to strength. From September 2014 we will become a mixed school, catering for girls and boys aged 11-19 and with state-of-the-art learning, sporting and recreation facilities. We are confident our inspiring new learning environment will further facilitate our success and progress.
