Plastics Workshop
On the 17th and 18th of January, one of our Y10 Art GCSE groups were fortunate enough to be visited by Peter Marigold, a designer, artist and inventor. Throughout his career Peter has been commissioned to do design work for some highly prestigious clients; such as Paul Smith, Fendi and Sony - but whilst he was at Bow, it was the students that were doing the designing!
Our students were briefed with the task of creating small-scale sculptures inspired by natural forms using a quirky bio-plastic created by Marigold, called Form-card. The brief was written in response to our current dialogue around the overuse of plastics, whilst making connection to East London’s history of plastic manufacture.
All the students performed incredibly well and a selection of their works will be included in an up and coming exhibition organised by Bow Arts.
