Raw Plastics Project with Bow Arts
Year 10 GCSE art students have been working with Bow Arts and local film maker Frances Scott on a project called Raw Plastics.
Students learnt that plastic was first made in Bow by Alexander Parks and was named “parkicene”; that while plastic pollution is an environmental problem, many plastics are durable and useful.
The students made still life set-ups of different types of plastic objects and then used film making techniques (using a Bolex camera) to capture different shapes, colours and textures.
The film is going to be developed by Frances and will be shown as part of an exhibition at the Nunnery Gallery in May to which students and parents will be invited.
