Students Experience Shakespeare at The Globe
Last term, a group of 31 students from Years 7–11 had the exciting opportunity to attend a live performance of Romeo and Juliet at Shakespeare’s Globe Theatre.
Standing as traditional “groundlings” for the duration of the performance, our students demonstrated exceptional maturity and enthusiasm. For 90 minutes, they remained fully engaged, showing respect for both the performers and the historic setting, and embracing the unique experience of immersive theatre.
The visit offered students a valuable opportunity to bring their classroom learning to life, deepening their understanding of Shakespeare’s work in one of the most authentic environments possible. Experiencing the play in such an iconic venue helped students to appreciate the language, themes and performance style in a dynamic and memorable way.
Despite the late evening, students approached the trip with positivity and energy throughout. Their conduct was exemplary and reflected the school’s values at every stage of the visit.
This trip was a powerful reminder of the importance of cultural experiences in education. It was a pleasure to accompany such a fantastic group of students, who represented the school with pride and enthusiasm.
