Thames Wind & Brass Day
On 15th November we took 12 students to participate in the annual THAMES (Tower Hamlets Music Service) Wind and Brass Day. The event was held at the nearby Osmani Youth Centre and featured about 60 pupils from across Tower Hamlets playing flute, saxophone, clarinet, bassoon, trumpet, French horn and trombone.
The pupils had a whole day of intensive rehearsals on three pieces of music, which will be played live sometime next year in July. There will be another rehearsal early next year.
All the pupils had a great day of music making and were a credit to the school, with their excellent behaviour and focus on some challenging, but exciting, new music. We hope their experiences will inspire younger musicians to take up these instruments.
All the players will be playing with the National Youth Orchestra in April next year here at Bow School.
