THURSDAY 10TH MAY 2018 at 7pm
Theatre Royal Stratford East, Gerry Raffles Square, Stratford, E15 1BN.
Bow School is taking part in the National Theatre Connections Festival 2018. The festival brings together drama groups across the UK and provides the opportunity for young people to perform a newly commissioned play written for the festival.
Bow dramatists will be performing the play ‘The Sweetness of a Sting’ at the Theatre Royal Stratford East on Thursday 10th May 2018 at 7pm. There is a cast of 22 dramatists plus a number of students that are supporting in key technical roles.
Putting on a show requires a lot of preparation and the cast have worked during their lunch-time, after school and at the weekend to ensure that the performance is of a high standard. The school will be subsidising the price of the first 40 tickets. The remaining tickets will be sold at the cost price of £5.
This is an amazing opportunity for our dramatists to perform on a professional stage and I encourage you to come along and support them in what will be a truly amazing performance.
About the play
When his parents decide they want to return to their home country, Badger is confronted with the possibility of leaving everything he knows in the UK and becoming a visitor in a strange and unknown world. Attempting to run away and escape his parent’s plans, Badger finds himself in a world full of insects, stories and Thunder – a land beneath our feet that he cannot escape from. Inspired by the fables of West African storytelling this fantastical story looks at what it means to be young, disconnected from nature, and from your identity.
