UCL Engineering Festival
On Thursday 18th July 2024, Year 7, 8 & 9 STEM Club students who were working towards the Crest award project, Formula 1 Cars project attended The UCL Engineering festival at UCL as part of their enrichment programme.
The festival supports Gatsby Benchmarks, providing high quality information on STEM career pathways, employer opportunities and direct encounters role models and potential future employers; offering first-hand experience of the labs and other working environments; showcasing that engineering is a desirable and achievable career for all and empowering young people to feel that a STEM career is for them; highlighting the importance of STEM with real-world applications connected to their everyday life and use of STEM in any chosen career. Students had many opportunities to gain insight into different career pathways, ask questions and build connections and networks.
After the huge success of STEM club at Bow School where the attendance, number of students participating in the different projects improved, the school was given a sponsorship to run STEM Challenge-Race to the line, the project to be commenced from October 2024.
