Why Our Sixth Formers Stay

Why Our Sixth Formers Stay

We interviewed some of our Year 12/13 students about staying on in the Sixth Form and the opportunities they are experiencing during their time with us.

“I chose to stay on at Bow Sixth Form because of the familiar environment and the teachers. My highlight so far has been the enrichment trip as we got to work together, learning new skills, as well as have fun during paint-balling. I would recommend the Sixth Form because of the small classes which makes it easier to ask for help from teachers and stay engaged with lessons. In the future, I am going to study Sociology at university and have aspirations of becoming a teacher.”     Amirah Yasmin

“I feel comfortable here, there is a sense of community and familiarity particularly with the teachers and staff. The facilities offered here are excellent and the support and resources are endless; the sixth form team is always available to sit down and help. I have also been given the opportunity of supporting other students and helping conduct class mock interviews, providing feedback and filming my colleagues. A recent stand out moment was an amazing reward trip in recognition of all our hard work. My plans are to attend university, possibly on a degree apprenticeship in either finance, banking, economic or real estate/property. I want to pursue a career in property or real estate.”   Mohibur Rahman

“Asking for support is so much easier here as we are already acquainted with the teachers, and they know a lot about us so they can target the help. The atmosphere is very friendly at Bow Sixth Form and I have benefited hugely from working with mentor who has guided me through the challenges faced by a sixth former. We have also had the excellent opportunity of becoming lunch supervisors and I have learnt many transferable skills. The added bonus has been receiving a salary for this onsite work! I plan to go to university to study finance and then to pursue a career in private equity or venture capital.”    Tanvir Chowdhury

“The Sixth Form has great academic results as well as staff dedicated to you in terms of academic and emotional support. My future career plans are to become a pharmacist and I intend to study pharmacy at university.”   Mansur Alam

“Like most of my colleagues, I chose to stay on because I already knew my surroundings, the teachers and the smaller class sizes. Being given additional responsibility beyond our studies, primarily through a paid job in school has provided me with new experience and knowledge. I would recommend coming here as the team has done everything possible to push through as many opportunities despite Covid. I'm still not entirely sure what my future plans are but I'm planning to study a dual degree of a language with international relations.”      Anu Mhlanga
