Working in Partnership: Construction Youth Trust
Construction Youth Trust is a charity, whose aim is to inspire and enable young people to overcome barriers and discover a career in the construction and built environment sector. Students across Bow work with CYT on an array of activities, opportunities, events and experiences.
Beginning last term, students in Year 10 and 12 participated in a mentoring programme, focusing on those whose skills and interests are suited to the construction role, offering a realistic understanding of the world of work, skills sought by employers and those required to succeed, whilst providing an improved awareness and understanding of alternative pathways, including apprenticeships.
This term, Year 8 students engaged in a Not Just For Boys workshop, challenging stereotypes in the workplace and discussing how we can move on beyond them. Students worked together to present their ideas, sparking conversation and instilling confidence.
