On Thursday 23^rd February a group of Y12 and Y13 students, interested in a career in finance and insurance, visited the Head Office of Chubb Insurance in the City for an insight day.

The students received a warm welcome from the Head of Operations, followed by a brief introduction to insurance from the Chief Operating Officer. A variety of talks from Chubb employees followed – they told the students about their educational background, the type of work they do, how they got into insurance and what they enjoyed most about their jobs. The employees came from a variety of backgrounds: some had been to university, some had worked their way up and some had moved to London from abroad.  Chubb also offer an Apprenticeship Scheme.

The students asked sensible questions after the talks and had a tour of the office before working one-to-one with a volunteer from Chubb who discussed how to write a good CV demonstrating how they meet job specifications. This was followed by interview practice with a focus on competency questions - a common type of interview question across professions.

The students said that they found the day really useful in finding out more about the insurance industry. A number have decided to apply for a work experience opportunity with the company, which would be a great asset for their CV.
