Year 10 Design Museum Visit- Chairs Workshop

Year 10 Resistant Materials GCSE group recently visited the Design Museum for a ‘Folding Chairs’ workshop. The students will shortly be starting their major GCSE project to design and build a prototype chair so the workshop seemed like an ideal springboard into this.

It was a highly interactive experience with several chairs for them to fiddle with and try out and the boys did not manage to break a single one! They also had to do some sketching, some designing and think about target markets which should set them in good stead for their upcoming project.

After the workshop there was the opportunity to visit the museum galleries, the interactive light and crystal displays were a hit as were elements of the modern jewellery exhibits.
