Yr 8 visit the Gallery of Living and Dying at the British Museum

A group of Yr 8 art students went to the British Museum where they discovered facts about the Aztec civilization. The trip linked to their current project which looks as the “Day of the Dead” festival in Mexico derived from Aztec rituals.  The students were able to see Aztec artefacts such as real human skulls decorated in bright turquoise mosaic and statues of their gods carved into stone. In another room they explored how different cultures cope with death and traditions they hold. A modern art piece was also on display which consisted of thousands of tablets woven into fabric to represent how modern society can prevent or postpone death.
