Olympic visit to London Handball Cup

On Tuesday 23 November a group of 48 students and 3 staff from Bow school along with many other local secondary and primary schools were invited as part of the London prepares series the London 2012 sports testing programme to watch four of the six top international women’s teams from around the world compete in the new Handball Arena in the Olympic park.

The new Handball Arena was full of colour and the children that attended were full of excitement, therefore creating and enjoyable atmosphere to watch top level, international sport.  The boys were amazed with the tactics and game play of Handball and I don’t believe they expected to see a game that was so intense and aggressively played!  All boys commented on their excitement in being able to go to the Olympic Park and on a personal note I have to say it was very impressive walking through the new Westfield Shopping centre and then in and through the Olympic Park, past the Olympic stadium and the impressive Aquatics centre before arriving at the Handball Arena.  This walk created a genuine excitement for me when I think what will be happening here in 2012.

This was a fantastic opportunity and the boys thoroughly enjoyed the event.
